Privacy Notice for This Site

This Privacy Notice describes what Lee County Busted Mugshots receives when someone uses its pages, search tools, or contact route. It explains how information is used, when it can be shared, and what choices are available. By using the site, a visitor accepts the practices described here.

Information Sent by Visitors

Search Entries

If a visitor types a name or location into a search box, the query is sent to the third-party provider that operates that tool. Lee County Busted Mugshots does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider may apply its own privacy notice, retention rules, and security controls after receiving the request.

Messages and Contact Requests

An email or message sent about Lee County Jail, the Sheriff's Office, or a page on this project is retained long enough to answer it and manage the correspondence. Those messages are not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law, a valid legal order, or a service needed to respond.

Technical Data and Cookies

Routine server and analytics records may capture basic technical details when a page loads. The kinds of information that may be recorded include:

  • IP address or a related network identifier.
  • Browser name, version, and language settings.
  • Device category and operating system.
  • Pages visited and the time spent on each page.
  • The referring page or site, when one is supplied.
  • Visit and request timestamps.

Cookie Choices

Cookies and similar tools may help measure how visitors use the site and whether pages work as intended. A browser can block or delete cookies through its settings. Some features, including partner tools, may behave differently when those files are blocked.

How Information Is Used

Information is used for ordinary site operations and service measurement, not to create an official Lee County record. That includes the following activities:

  • Keeping the pages available, stable, and reasonably fast.
  • Sending an entered query to the partner selected for that search tool.
  • Understanding which pages help visitors find the county's official sources.
  • Finding errors, abuse, and technical faults so they can be addressed.
  • Showing advertising that may be relevant to a visitor's interests.

Government Links and Advertising

The project links to the Lee County Jail, the Sheriff's Office business page, the county FOIA form, the Circuit Clerk, IDOC, BOP, ICE, and other resources. Once a visitor follows one of those links, the destination's privacy policy and data practices apply. This site does not control the policies, uptime, or security of those outside services.

Advertising partners may use cookies or similar signals to recognize activity across different sites and deliver interest-based advertising on their own systems. Those partners may provide their own opt-out choices. Their tracking does not mean that Lee County Busted Mugshots receives every activity record they collect.

Who May Receive Information

Personal information is not sold by Lee County Busted Mugshots. Limited information may nevertheless reach the parties below when their service is part of a visitor's request or when disclosure is legally required.

  • Search partners that receive a query entered into their tool.
  • Analytics providers that help measure page use and site performance.
  • Advertising networks and their measurement providers.
  • Law-enforcement or government bodies responding to a valid legal order or other lawful demand.

Security Is a Best Effort

Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for the information handled by this project. No internet-connected service can promise perfect security, and no transmission or stored message is guaranteed to be immune from every breach, attack, or system failure.

Visitors Under 18

The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has sent a message or other personal data, a parent or guardian may use the contact route to ask that it be removed.

Choices About Personal Data

Depending on the information involved and any legal exception, a person may ask what personal data this project holds and request a response through the Contacts page. Available requests can include:

  • A copy of personal data maintained by this project.
  • Correction of an inaccurate detail in a message record.
  • Deletion of information when there is no reason to retain it.
  • Opting out of certain analytics, advertising, or other processing.

A request made to this project cannot change a Lee County Sheriff's Office, jail, court, IDOC, BOP, or ICE record. Those corrections or access requests must go to the agency that owns the record.

Notice Changes

This Privacy Notice may be revised as the site, its tools, or its legal obligations change. A revised version will be posted here with a new effective date. Continued use after an update means the visitor accepts the revised practices.
